Moreover, the knowledge deepened throughone's research can boost confidence in daily clinical practice, adding depth toone's role as a clinician. We believe that good researchers can becomeexcellent clinicians. We diagnose and treat patients with viral hepatitis, autoimmuneliver disease, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, and other chronic liverdiseases. Percutaneous liver biopsy, and more recently non-invasive tests using serum biomarkers and Fibroscan, are usedfor the diagnosis and evaluation of clinical stage and prognosis. For the treatment ofliver cancer, we perform radiofrequencyablation therapy, hepatic artery chemoembolization therapy, andthe administration of molecular targeted drugs.Research subjectOutlook for researchOutlook for students after graduationTadanobu NagayaThrough endoscopic examinations using gastroscopes and colonoscopes, along with daily outpatient and inpatient care, we seek research topics witha scientist's eye. Even within common diseases, there are always unsolvedissues and questions. A pure desire to provide better healthcare to thepatients in front of us forms the foundation of meaningful research. Conductliterature searches on your questions, and if you still can't find answers, those questions become your research topics. With strong guidance frommany faculty members and leaders from other departments, we conductresearch to solve these problems and share our findings with the world.Research subjectOutlook for researchOutlook for students after graduationResearch and discovery Endoscopic submucosal dissection technique for resection of early cancer in digestive tract・Clinical characteristics of chronic hepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma・Identification and epigenetic analysis of disease susceptibility genes inautoimmune liver diseases・Search for novel biomarkers of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease・Our research goal is to solve important clinical questions usingepidemiological and molecular biological approaches.・We help patients with chronic liver disease worldwide by activelydisseminating our research.・You can spend clinical and research life as a world-class physician scientists.・Enteritis caused by immune checkpoint inhibitors・Barrett's esophagus and Barrett's adenocarcinoma・Helicobacter pylori infection (gastric cancer post-eradication)・Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT)・Endoscopic treatment for esophageal achalasia and gastroesophageal reflux diseaseWe aim to become clinicians who can provide all-around care in generalinternal medicine.
