21ProfessorAKIYAMAYoshitakeAftercompletingagraduateprogramatTokyoUniversityofAgricultureandTechnology,ProfessorAkiyamaworkedatJEOLLtd.,atTokyoUniversityofAgricultureandTechnologyasaspeciallyappointedassistantprofessor,andatOsakaUniversityasaseniorassistantprofessor,hiscurrentpositionin2021.specializationincludeHisfieldsofbiotechnology,micromachining,regenerativemedicine,theintegrationofthesame.ProfessorKOSEKIMichihikoProfessorhistookcurrentpositionin2019afterworkingasanengineeratFujitsuLimitedandanassistantprofessoratTokyoInstituteofTechnology,andanassociateprofessoratShinshuUniversity.Hisresearchinterestsincludebiomechanics,computationalmedicaltechniquesandbio-inspiredrobotics.Ourlaboratoryfocusesonphenomenaandcharacteristicsatthemicroscopicscaleandaimstoapplythemtomedicalandenvironmentalmicrofabricationtechnologies.Wesucceededintheworld'sfirstcryoprotectant-freecryopreservationofanimalcellsusinginkjettechnology.Wearealsoworkingonultrasonicrecoveryofmicroplastics(tinypiecesofplasticsintheenvironment),constructionofsmall3Dtissuesbydiamagneticcellmanipulation,andbio-hybriddevicesactuatedbytissue-engineeredmuscle.Surgicaloperationsaresometimesrequiredtofixseverebonefracturesormuscleinjuries.Here,ifwecanestimatemechanicalconditionsofourbodypartsand/orsurgicalinstrumentspriortotheoperation,theinformationwillbegreatlyhelpfultoavoidsurgicalerrorsorfurthersurgeries.Ourlaboratoryexaminespatient-specificbiomechanicalis,wefabricateacomputationalmodelwiththeexactshapeofthepatientbasedonclinicalX-rayCTimages,andperformanalysestoestimatemechanicalstatesofbonesorartificialinstrumentsinourbody.Collaborationwithmedicaldoctorsleadsustoproposenovelmedicaltechniques.Department of Department of Ourresearchsolutionswillpowerfullysupportmedicaldoctorsonbothdiagnosesandtreatmentsforillnessesorinjuriesinorthopedicfields.Patientscanalsoobtaingreatbenefitsincludingpersonalizedandinformation-richinformedconsentfortheirowntreatments.Weaimtorealizeaworldwhichissensitivetotheneedsanddesiresofdoctors,patients,andeveryone.Weregardlivingorgansof"humans"fromtheperspectivesof"mechanicalengineering"and"informationengineering“.Adiverserangeofknowledgemakesourstudentsenjoyavarietyofcareerpathsaftergraduation.andKosekiimagingengineeringsimulationmethods.ThatthroughmedicalautomobileandInkjet-based super flash freezing of cells.
