12ProfessorKAMIJOMasayoshiProfessorKamijohasearnedbachelor’sandmaster’sdegreesintextileengineeringandadoctoraldegreeintextileengineeringfromShinshuUniversity.HeworkedasanassistantprofessoratTokyoUniversityofScience,Suwa,andasanassistantprofessorandassociateprofessoratShinshuUniversitybeforetakinghiscurrentposition.Heisengagedinresearchintokanseimeasurementand(measurementinstrumentationtargetinghumanactivity).ProfessorTAKATERAMasayukiProfessorTakateratookhiscurrentpositionin2006afterservingintheFacultyofTextileScienceandTechnologyatShinshuUniversityasanassistantprofessor,seniorassistantprofessor,andassociateprofessor.Hisprincipalareasofresearchincludedesignandevaluationoftextilesandapparelandtheapplicationofkanseiengineeringtofashion.Datadescribingphysiologicalresponsesbythebrain,heart,andmusclescanbeobtainedfromhumanbody.Ibelieveitispossibletocreatealanguagetocommunicatethebody‘shealthorstateofcomfortorstressusingthisdata.Theresearchbeingcarriedoutbymylab(inkanseimeasurement),whichseekstocreateanewsystemofmeasurementcommunicatingcomfortbymeasuringdataexpressedbythebody,isgarneringattentioninnumerousindustries.Iamworkingtoidentifythevaluesthatmotivatepeoples’emotionsbyfocusingonclothingasthemostfamiliarobjectindailylife.Thiseffortincludesdevelopingnew,previouslyunthinkablemethodsforevaluatingvalue,forexamplebysearchingforfactorsthatdeterminehowpeopleevaluateproductsanddevelopingnewevaluationdevices.Bytakingascientificapproachtopersonaltaste,myresearchcreatesopportunitiesfornewproductsandbusinesses.Department ofDepartment offorandplanningplanningproducteducationalWhich bed is comfortable for you?Studyon developmentof a comfortable sleepevaluationsystem.Researchersgaugeaperson’semotionalstatebasedonherfacialexpressions(“attractivesmile”,“sleepyface”,“fatiguedface”).Thisresearchseekstousefacialexpressionsasanindicatorofthestateofcomfortandstressinthebodyandmind.Computers are used to create designs from fiber to thread and from thread to cloth.
