Research interests include digital mobile communications systems.Professor1989;CompletedDoctoralprogramatgraduateschoolofScienceandTechnology,ChibaUniversity1989-1996;TOSHIBACorp.1996;AssociateProfessor,2005;ProfessorResearchField;Magneticmaterials/devices/sensorsandtheirapplicationsEngineeringEngineeringManypeopleareusingwirelesscommunicationservicessuchascellular-phone/smartphonedigitalbroadcasting,andwirelessLAN(Wi-Fi)onadailybasis.Theseservicesaresupportedbymanywirelesstechnologiessuchasspreadspectrum,OFDManddiversitycombining.Inthislab,wetheoreticallyinvestigatetheperformancesofthosetechnologiesinordertorealizeanewwirelesscommunicationsystemwithusabilityandefficiency.FumihitoSasamoriAsanapproachaimedtorealizeade-carbonsociety,effortsforefficientuseofelectricenergyarebeingpromoted.Thepowerelectronicssystemsarewidelyusedinthehugepowergrid.However,themagneticdevicesarecurrentlyaseriousbottleneckinrealizingcompact/lightweight/highly-efficientSiC/GaNbasedpowerelectronicssystems.Inourlaboratory(AssociateProfessorMakotoSoneharaandI),R&DsontheinnovativelowlossmagneticmaterialsanddevicesforhighfrequencypowerconversionarenowbeinginprogressToshiro SatoCellular-phones/smartphonescommunication,terrestrialdigitalbroadcastingandwirelessLANservicesrequirehigh-speed(broadband)wirelesschannelsandexclusiveterminals.However,atrackingsystemforchildren’ssecurity/safetyandanautomaticmeteringsystemforelectricity/gas/waterdon’trequirethem.Wetakeatheoreticalapproachtoexploreawirelesssystemthatusesalow-speedchannelsuchasafree-ofchargevoicechannel,asitconsumeslessenergy,thusischeaperandalsoiseasiertouse.Wirelesscommunicationengineersareinhighdemandinnumeroustele-communicationscarriers,railwaycompanies,electricpowercompanies,andelectricalmanufacturers.Wirelesstechnologiescanbeappliedinvariousfieldsofengineering,sosomegraduateschangetheircareersforcareerenhancement.WiththespreadofAIandIoTthroughoutispredictedthathugeamountsofelectricenergywillberequired.Asanapproachtomaintainasustainablesociety,novelpowerelectronicstechnologyforhighly-efficientutilizationofelectricenergywillbecomeincreasinglyimportantinthefuture.Themagneticmaterial/devicedevelopmentandtheirapplicationtovariouspowerelectronicssystemsarepromotedinourlaboratory,andthelaboratorystudentscanacquirediverseskills.Graduatesareactiveinawidevarietyofincludingelectronicsmanufacturers,electroniccomponentmanufacturers,electricpowercompany,railwaycompany,andresearchinstitutes.communications,terrestrialcompaniessuchastheworld,itfields,We design and implement an OFDM digital signal processing on a microcontroller over voice grade analog channels.In order to simulate wireless systems, we build a PC cluster with which many PCs can be virtually viewed as a high spec computer.SiC/GaNpowerdeviceswithverylowon-resistanceandveryhighspeedswitchingenabletorealizecompact,lightweightandhighly-efficientpowersupplysystemsbyincreasingoperationfrequency.Forfurtherprogress,theinnovativelowlossmagneticmaterialsanddevicesmustbedeveloped.Developmentofembed-dedmagneticdevicesintoorganicinterposer(Photo-lithographyprocessat1st.floorofUFO-agano)Rapidquenchingapparatusformakingsoftmagneticribbon(1st.floorofSASTec)Theoretical Approach to Realize WirelessCommunication with Usability and EfficiencyToward carbon-free society!also contribution to Aerospace Systems!
