Worked at the Communications Research Laboratory of the Ministry ofPosts & Telecommunications before joiningShinshu University in 1996.EngineeringEngineeringEvolutionarycomputationusescomputationalmodelsofnaturalevolutiontosolvecomplexproblemsinscienceandengineering.Thecreationofsustainablesystemstomeetourneedswithoutcompromisingfuturegenerationsisasocialchallenge.Itdemandsthedevelopmentofnewtechnologiesandtheredesignofourinfrastructure,balancingenvironmental,economic,andsocietalneeds.Sustainabilityproblemsareintrinsicallycomplex,dynamic,large-scale,spanseveraldisciplines,andrequiremultidisciplinaryeffortsandmethodstosolvethem.Weusethepowerofevolutionarycomputationfordesigninnovationandoptimizationofsolutionstocomplexsustainabilityproblems.Aguirre HernanInthislab,researchisbeingdoneonawidevarietyofinformationsystems.Withapolicyofcreating“useful”and“easytouse”technology,thegoalistoenrichhumanlifebymakingmundanetaskseasierandmorefun.Mostsystemsaredesignedfromthedeveloper’spointofview,whichtendstomakethemhardtouse.Here,systemdevelopmentisundertakenfromtheuser’spointofview.Examplesystemsarecomputerlearningsystemsandinformationmanagementsystems.Asforembeddedsystems,sensornetworks,liketheoneshownontheright,isamajorresearcharea.David AsanoIntheLaboratorywelearnaboutreal-worldproblem-solvingandoptimizationbycomputationalmeans.Thisrequiresaclearunderstandingofitsmodeling,andthecreationofaprogramtosolveit.Thereisalsoopportunitiestocollaborateinjointresearchwithindustry.Theseactivitiescomplementstheeducationreceivedintheundergraduatecurseandbroadenstheskillsofengineers.Graduatesfindemploymentinsuchareasasthesoftware,electronicsandautomotiveindustries.Prof.Asanoteachesstudentsnotonlyaboutresearch,butalsoaboutlifeandsociety,sothattheycanalsoenrichtheirlives.powergrids,intelligentmobilitytheneedsoftheproblem,researchisalsobeingdoneonInthislab,communicationseveraldigitalcommunicatewitheachother,moredevicesintelligentoperationscanbeperformed.Inthefuture,deviceswillworktogetherwiththeir“friends”.Studentsarecurrentlyworkingonwaystodothis.systems.andSmarttransportationsystems,andintelligentwatergridsarethreekeysystemstowhichevolutionarycomputationcanbeusedtooptimizetheirdesignandimprovetheirsustainabilitytomeetthefuture.Additionally,designinnovationinkeyindustries,suchasautomobileandspaceexploration,areareasinwhichevolutionarycomputationwillplayanimportantrole.wirelessIftransmissionEvolutionarycomputationisusedtofindoptimalsolutionstomulti-objective,largescale,complexoptimizationproblems.Evolutionarycomputationsimulatesevolutionanditisappliedtosolveavarietyofdesigninnovationandsustainabilityproblems.transpondersensorterminalserverEvolutionary Computation for Design Innovation and SustainabilityICT/Embedded Systems toImprove Daily Life
