SNNSNSNSNNSNSNElectrical& Computer Electrical& Computer Electrical& Computer Electrical& Computer NSSNNSNSNSSNSSNSNSSerieshybridvehiclesusingfree-pistonenginecoupledwithlineargeneratorareexpectedforhigh-efficiencyenergyconversionsystems.Suchenginesdonothaveacrankmechanism,whichgreatlyreducesthefrictionloss.Inaddition,thepistonactioncanbecontrolledfreelybythegenerationbrakingthrustbyusinganinvertercontrol.OurLaboratoryisinterestedingeneratordesignandinverterpowergenerationcontrolforthepurposeofimprovingpowergenerationefficiency.Wearealsostudyingtheeffectofpistonmovementontheefficiencyofpowergenerationexperimentsusingsmallengines.ProgressesofelectronicsandinformationtechnologieshaveproducednewindustriesandservicesliketheInternet,amobilephone,etc.Espcially,thescalingtechnologyofVLSIrealizesawidevarietyoffunctionswithlowcost.Bythecommoditization,thematuredVLSItechnologyhasbeenusedinmanyareas.But,Japaneseelectronicsindustryisstrugglingwithcostcompetitiveness.Toovercomethis,wehavetodifferentiateproductsfromothersandcustomizeourVLSIchipwithacircuitdesigntechnology.Ourlaboratorywilldevelopanewcomputerarchitectureandsystemsbyco-designinghardware,softwareandapplication.“TrillionSensorsUniverse”iscomingupsoon.Trillionsensorscollectandcomputemanyinformationfromtherealworld.Then,VLSIcircuitdesignbecomesakeytechnologyformedicine,agriculture,husbandry,logistics,architectureandcivilengineering.Todistinguishproductsfromthecompetitorsandproduceuniqueproducts,VLSIinnovationisessential.Inourlaboratory,studentscanstudynotonlydigital/analogcircuitdesignbutessentialtechnologiesfromsensordevicestosoftware.Byresearchinginconsiderationoftheoutput,wewillplayavitalroleinthedevelopmentofInformationCommunicationTechnology(ICT).years,recentpopularityworldwideYouwilltechnicianselectricalmeasurementcompanies.workinasAsagraduationwork,studentsinJohguchiLab.proposeacircuitandarchitectureandusetheirinventivenesstotacklearesearchproject.Studentscanstudyawideareaincludingdevicephysics,measurementtechniqueandsoftwaredevelopment,etc.Also,successfulexperiencesofachievingsomethingbecomeusefulforthefuturejob.SparkplugelectrificationforhasIngainedtherealizationofasustainableautomotiveindustry.Thissystemwillbefundamentaltechnologiesforthefutureofautomotivesociety.FuelinjectorFree-pistonengineersandprecisionorThissystemhasnocrankmechanism.Sincethecombustionenergyisconverteddirectlyintoelectricpower,themechanicallosscanbereduced.VLSIchipandmeasurementboard.StudentsdesignandverifyaVLSIchiptoworkasrequired.Studentsdefinethespecificationanddesignacircuit.Tofabricateachip,acircuitdesignerdrawsalayoutwithnm-orderscalebyCADsoftware.CombustionchamberLineargeneratorValvePermanentmagnetInverterSpringchamberSpringCoilChargingBatteryMitsuhideSatoAssistantprofessorPh.D.:ShinshuUniversityResearchfield:Lineargenerator/motorKohJohguchiAssociate ProfessorHe received the Ph.Ddegree from Hiroshima University in 2007.His research area is low power VLSI circuit design and computer architecture.
