The project aims to equip individuals with the professional skills needed to create a new future for the transportation, infrastructure, food, and tourism industries that form the basis of regional economies and lifestyles in the age of population decline and the New Normal. In addition, the Shinshu 100-Year Busi-ness Project works to connect people from the Tokyo metropolitan area with local enter-prises and boost employee retention by creating more vibrant and attractive companies.With partnership agreements with 60% of munici-palities in Nagano, Shinshu University works to meet the needs of local communitiesShinshu University's campuses, satellite campuses, and educational and research facilities are located throughout Nagano Prefecture, and the University has concluded partnership agreements with many local municipalities. It is because of the long history of these partnerships that the University has such a well-established reputation for contributing to the local community.No.1 in the universities' local contribution ranking !Shinshu University ranked No.1 in Japan in the “2019 National University Local Contribu-tion Ranking” published by Nikkei Inc. and the Research Institute for Industrial Regions. The University was rated highly across the board and especially in areas such as the number of collab-orative projects between industry, academia and government, the number of courses and symposiums open to the public, and student participation in local volunteer activities.
