Electrical& Computer EngineeringIn the FutureAfter GraduationMinami MiyakawaConcept images of natural evolution and one of EAsExamples of research subjectEvolutionaryAlgorithmsforSolvingMulti-ObjectiveOptimizationProblemsEvolutionaryAlgorithms(EAs)imitatenaturalevolution.Takingacardesignproblemmaximizingmaxspeedasanexample,carsconstructapopulationandinferioronesareeliminated,thedesignofacaristreatedasDNA,andanewcarisgeneratedfromtwofastcarsinthepopulationbyapplyingcrossoverandmutation(seethefigureontherightside).Asthisprocessisrepeated,theaveragemaxspeedofthecarsinthepopulationisfaster.It’sinteresting,isn’tit?However,EAsstillhasroomforimprovement.Let’sresearchEAstogether.Optimizationproblemsariseeverywhere.SinceEAscansolvemanykindsofoptimizationproblems,byimprovingtheapplicabilityandusability,Ibelieveitwillbecomepopularinthenearfuture.Infact,ithasalreadybeenappliedtoreal-worldproblems,forexample,designofN700seriesShinkansenandMitubishiRegionalJet,etc.Youwillacquireskillssuchasproblem-solving,logicalthinking,programming,etc.Theskillsofproblem-solvingandlogicalthinkingareusefulforanywork.AssistantProfessorShe received Ph.D. degrees from The University of Electro-Communications in 2016. She was a JSPS research fellow before joining Shinshu university in 2019.
