Electrical& Computer EngineeringIn the FutureAfter GraduationHideaki HataNAISTcarsharingisone-waycarsharingbeingresearchedattheNaraInstituteofScienceandTechnology(NAIST).Weaimtorealizeasystemthatcanbeoperatedautonomouslyamongusersbysharingtheirrequirementsanddesigningincentivestorewardpreferredreturnbehavior.Weareexperimentingwithanauction-stylecarsharingsysteminwhichusersbidthedesiredamountofmoneyfortheparkinglottheywanttostartusingatthedesiredtime.Softwareisnotfinishedafteritiscreated;itneedstobecontinuouslydevelopedtosuittheenvironmentandusers.However,softwareassetsarecomplexandinterdependent,andthehumanresourcesinvolvedindevelopmentarefluid.Totacklethisproblem,softwareecosystems,whichconsidersandstudiesvarioussoftwareasanecosystem,includingmultiplesoftwareassetsandhumanresources,hasbeenattractingattentioninthefieldofsoftwareengineering.Inadditiontoourempiricalresearchonthistopic,wearealsoworkingonresearchonone-waycarsharingasamechanismforpeopletocooperatewitheachotherinanecosystem.Softwaredevelopmentisnowadynamicwayofworkingthatinvolvespeoplefromallovertheworld.Newjobsandnewwaysofworkingthathaveneverexistedbeforearealreadybeingcreated.Fromsoftwareengineeringresearch,wemaybeabletofindwaysofworkingthatwillhaveanimpactontheworld.Weencouragestudentstoexperienceactualsoftwaredevelopmentthroughinternships.Whenstudentsenterthegraduateschool,wetrytosendthemtodomesticandoverseascompanies,etc.Wehopethattheywillbecomesoftwareengineerswhocanworkasateamanddoresearch.Associate ProfessorHe received a Ph.D. in information science from Osaka University.His research interests include empirical software engineering, software ecosystems, software economics, and one-way carsharing. Sustainable Software Development: Software Ecosystems and EconomicsPiezoelectricmaterialisusedasanultrasonictransducerandanignitionelementoflighter.Thematerialgenerateselectricity(electriccharges)whenpressureisapplied,anditdeforms(expandsandcontracts)whenavoltageisappliedonthecontrary.Sincemanyofpiezoelectricceramicsusednowcontainharmfullead,thereisanincreasingdemandforlead-freepiezoelectricmaterials.Thereforeweconductresearchonsuchlead-freepiezoelectricceramics.Furthermore,weareapplyingpiezoelectricceramicstodevelopultrasonicmotors.Piezoelectricmaterialcanconvertkineticenergy(pressure,displacement)andelectricalenergy,thusisappliednotonlytoasensorbuttoavibratorandanactuator.Sincetheirperformancesdependonthecharacteristicsofthematerial,itisimportanttodoresearchonthematerialdevelopment.Besides,thedevelopmentofpiezoelectricmaterialrequiresanewdevice.Ourstudentsworkhardtoexploreanewmaterialanditsapplication.AssociateProfessorShe worked at Shinshu University after received the Ph.D. (Engineering) in Materials Chemistry atOsakaUniversityin1998.Researchfield:・electronicmaterialsMakepiezoelectricceramics.Powderwaspressedintoapelletusingthispressingmachineandfiredatabove1000oC,thenceramicswasobtained.Piezoelectric Material ~Material development and application~Characterizationoftheceramics.Thedielectricconstantorresonancepropertyaremeasuredwithchangingtemperatureorfrequency.Ourgraduatesareworkingatelectricpowdercompaniesandhomeelectricsmakersoraspublicofficials.Iamteachinghowtocarryouttheresearchandsolveproblemsthroughtheresearch,sothatthestudentswillsucceedinplayinanyfields.Noriko BambaIn the FutureAfter GraduationElectrical& Computer Engineering
