Textiles and fibers are not used solely for apparel, but as leading-edge materials in a variety of fields including aircraft, automobiles, medicine, energy, environment, civil engineering and construction. IFES promotes the creation of "frontier fibers" with various functions and capabilities, research into biological fibers and fibers for medical use through medical engineering collaboration, and the development of medical robots and control technologies. It is also engaged in the creation of smart textiles with new functions by merging the fields of nanotechnology and nanofiber, and research aimed at the creation of fashion for a world market of 7 billion people through technological innovations.さまざまな繊維・ファイバー工学分野の研究を先鋭化する。「 繊維・ファイバー 」 は細くて長い特性を有する材料の総称であり、繊維 ・ ファイバーは、 アパレル用途だけでなく、航空機・自動車、メディカル、エネルギー、環境、土木建築など様々な分野に使われる先端的な素材として展開されています。本研究拠点では，さまざまな機能・性能を有した「フロンティアファイバー」の創出、医学工学連携下での生物由来ファイバーやメディカル利用ファイバー の研究及びメディカルロボットとその制御技術の開発、ナノテク・ナノファイバー分野を融合して新しい機能を有するスマートテキスタイルを創出、技術革新により70億人の世界市場を対象としたファッションの創造を実現するための研究を推進します。山岳科学研究拠点［IMS］Institute for Mountain ScienceElucidation of environmental change, prevention and reduction of natural a disaster and their various social and economic costs reduce it, promotion of biological diversity through mountains science.The Institute for Mountain Science (IMS) is located in the Chubu region of central Japan. IMS conducts a large number of field surveys and research on alpine environmental conservation, climate, ecosystems, the earth's crustal changes, natural disaster prevention, and sustainable natural resource management in the Japanese Alps. IMS collaborates with research institutes and universities overseas and also with various fields of study in order to develop advanced methodologies and technologies to model and monitor the ecosystem and natural resources. IMS consists of four departments: 1) Mountain Ecosystem, Geomorphology, Geology and Disaster Prevention, 2) Forest Resource, 3) Graduate school education, and 4) the Department of Research Cooperation, which is aimed at conducting international research comparing alpine environments in Asia and around the world. IMS focuses on ecosystems, wild animals and plants in an alpine region, hydrologic and atmospheric changes due to climate change, succession in plant and animal habitats, cross-border pollution due to economic development in Asian countries, long-term climate and water quality change, geomorphology and geology related to mountain formation.山岳科学を通じた環境変動・防減災・生物多様性の解明山岳科学研究拠点は日本の中央に位置し、 日本アルプスと豊かな自然環境に恵まれた地の利を活かし、 中部山岳における豊かな自然環境の保全と、気候、生態系、地殻変動の予測，防災や持続的な資源管理のための観測と研究を行うことを設置目的とします。 研究拠点のグローバルで先鋭的な研究領域は、" 分野間融合とモデリング、多面的な広がりを持つ先鋭的なセンシング技術 "とし、世界的な海外の研究機関とも連携・共同研究を行い、 国際研究拠点を目指します。研究拠点の組織は山岳生態系研究部門、 地形地質・防災研究部門、森林資源研究部門、大学院教育・ 研究連携部門からなり、アジアや地球規模での山岳における観測との比較、 共同研究を進め国際的山岳研究拠点の役割を果たします。 高山環境に生息する野生動植物の生態研究、グローバルな気候変動や自然環境の変化による水文・ 大気環境の変化、陸上の植物相・動物相の推移と予測、アジアの経済発展にともなう越境汚染の実態調査、過去から未来にわたるグローバルな気候変動及び水質の変動研究、 山岳環境の形成にかかわる地形地質の研究などを重点的に行います。for航空宇宙システム工学研究拠点［SURCAS］Shinshu University,Research Center For Aerospace SystemsR&D and the development of young human resources related to aerospace systemsThis research center has locations throughout the prefecture of Nagano where young researchers are trained for aerospace systems through R&D. Currently, R&D of various components, materials and their integrated modules/systems for advanced aircrafts, small rockets and satellites are in progress. The research center contributes to the regional revitalization through the promotion of aerospace industry in Japan.
