Iaminvolvedinusingnetworkanalysistovisualizeflowsofpeople,things,andinformationintextile‐relatedindustries.Forexample,Iviewtransactionsbetweencompaniesasnetworksandanalyzetheminordertoascertainwhichcompaniesexhibitcentralimportance.Basedonthatdata,Iamabletoextracthighlyuniquetransactionalrelationshipsbetweencompanies.conductresearchinordertosupportnewbusinessstrategyplanningthroughnetworkanalysisbasedonindustryanalysis,toestablishnewbusinessmodels,andtoachieveprocessinnovationthatutilizesinformationtechnology.Graduatescanchoosefromabroadrangeoffuturepaths,servingasupstreamprocessintegrators,hotelorcompanymanagers,orbureaucrats;workingformachinery,electricmachinery,information,orsystemscompanies;orcontinuingtheirstudiesinadoctoralprogram.AssociateProfessorYoshiyukiMatsumuraAssociateProfessorMatsumuratookhiscurrentpositionin2009afterworkingasaspecialresearcherattheJapanSocietyforthePromotionofScience,asavisitingresearcherTokyoUniversity,andattheUniversityofBirminghamintheUK.Thatsameyear,hebecameavisitingprofessoratSoochowUniversity.Free software is used to display a transactional network linking 3,354 companies in the dye and finishing industry in 1998.Analysis can be carried out using special network properties based on the results of this graph, which illustrates frequency ordered by the number of companies with which each company trades.Visualizing flows of people, things,and information by applying network analysisto connections in textile‐related industries19Department of Advanced Textile and KanseiEngineeringKanseiEngineeringOutlook for researchOutlook for students after graduation
