Ithinkclothingthatprovidesthefunctionanddesignthatconsumerswant,andclothingthatwillalsoactuallyleadtopurchases,hassuchkanseivaluesascomfort,beauty,stylishness,elegance,classiness,andcuteness.Suchpiecesofclothingarealsomadefromclothingmaterialsthatarebeautifulandthathavesuperiorphysicalpropertiesandfunction.Inthelab,Iconductresearchtoidentifymethodsfordesigningthesekindsofbeautifulandcomfortableclothesaswellasmaterialstouseinsuchclothesfromthepointsofviewoftextileengineering,clothingstudies,andkanseiengineering.Iworktoclarifyprinciplesofclothingmanufacturingthatpreviouslyhavebeenderivedfromexperiencethroughresearchthataimstosystematizeengineering.Ultimately,Iwouldliketoproposeefficientdesignmethodsforclothingthatisbeautifulandcomfortableandtherebycontributetoanindustrialworldthataimstoproduceclothingthatconsumerswillpreferandpurchase.Mygoalinteachingistotrainemployeesofthefuturewhohavenotonlyexpertiseinclothingmaterialsandclothingdesign,butalsoacommandingoutlookandcommunicationskillsalongwithanabilitytoaccommodateglobalization.AssociateProfessorKyoungOkKimAssociateProfessorKimtookhercurrentpositionin2019afterworkingasaspecialresearcher(DC2/PD)intheJapanSocietyforthePromotionofScienceandasatenure‐trackassistantprofessoratShinshuUniversity.Herfieldsofspecializationincludeclothingengineering,textileengineering,andkanseiengineering.Herprincipalfieldsofresearchincludeclothingmaterials,clothingdesign,andevaluation.External appearance changes depending on whether there is an inner lining (left: without inner lining; right: with inner lining).My research also addresses mechanisms for three‐dimensional shaping of clothing through sewing and ironing. Shown are differences due to processing of parts of jackets created with the same cloth and pattern (top: withThe feel of clothing changes depending on whether there is padding (left: without inner lining; right: with inner lining).(a) Collar(b) Armhole(c) ShoulderResearch on the effects of an inner lining when manufacturing clothingSearching for beautiful and comfortable clothes based on the relationships of textiles, clothing patterns, and manufacturing technologyHeating,ventilation,air‐conditioning,andrefrigeration(HVAC&R)systemsconsumeenergy.Sincethethermalenvironmentisanimportantfactorindeterminingtheproductivityofoccupants,itisdesirabletodevelopeffectiveHVAC&Rsystems.Iamworkingtodevelopnumericalsimulationmethodsandexperimentaldevicestoanalyzethethermophysiologicalstateofthehumanbodyandthesurroundingthermalenvironment.Simultaneously,IamdevelopingnewpersonalHVAC&Rsystemsbasedonvariousmethodsanddevices.Basedontheresultsofanalysisofthermophysiologicalstateandthesurroundingenvironment,Iintendtoproposereasonablewaystoformacomfortablemicroclimatearoundthehumanbody,especiallybyadjustingclothingandairflow.Asanexample,mylabhasdevelopedclothingwithadjustablecoolingcapabilitythatutilizeswaterevaporation.Graduatesworkformajorhomebuilders,insurancecompanies,partmanufacturingcompanies,andtextiledevelopmentcompanies.AssociateProfessorTomonoriSakoiAssociateprofessorSakoicametoShinshuUniversityasanassistantprofessorafterworkexperienceattheUniversityofTokyoandtheNationalInstituteofAdvancedIndustrialScienceandTechnology,andheassumedhiscurrentpositionin2015.Hehaswonnineawards,includingthree“BestPaper”awardsfromtheSocietyofHeating,Air‐ConditioningandSanitaryEngineersofJapan(2001,2004,and2009)andone“BestPaper”awardfromASHRAEHVAC&RResearch(2014).This human subject experiment is being carried out to validate the cooling clothing that my lab developed. The clothing provided an adequate cooling effect, even in a warm and humid environment, when a convection fan was simultaneously used.感性工学課程繊維・感性工学系This device is used to determine the heat transfer characteristics of body segments in a non‐uniform thermal environment.Numerical simulation is used to a nalyzeai r and body temperature distributions.The science of heat and thermal perception:Creating individually preferred thermalenvironments by adjusting airflow and clothing17Department of Advanced Textile and KanseiEngineeringKanseiEngineeringDepartment of Advanced Textile and KanseiEngineeringKanseiEngineeringOutlook for researchOutlook for students after graduationOutlook for researchOutlook for students after graduation
