We treat a variety of thoracic diseases including thoracic malignancies such as a lung cancer, and thymic epithelial tumors (thymoma, thymic cancer); benign diseases such as pneumothorax, and inflammatory lung diseases, and chest trauma. We specifically provide patients with following surgeries aggressively, a “surgery without pain” utilizing a thoracoscope to reduse physical invasiveness and postoperative pain, and a “surgery without shortness of breath” or a seg-mentectomy to preserve nomal lung volume utilizing three-dimensional computed tomographic (3D-CT) images in patients with small, early-stage lung cancer. ・To investgate a segmental anatomy of the lungs utilizing 3D-CT images to develop novel surgical strategies to preserve lung volume in patients (Figure)・To integrate lung regeneration technologies and lung preserving surgical strategies to es-tablish safer and oncologically more effective treatment for lung cancer・To investgate a clinical and molecular pathology of lung cancerOur research target is mainly a lung cancer, which has the highest mortality rate among all malignancies.
