Laboratory ofFood FunctionTakakazuMITANIAssistantProfessor,Ph.D.Researchkeywords:Obesity-associateddiseases,Adipogenesis,Adipokines,AdipocytedifferentiationFoodfactors,Foodfunctions,TheresearchinterestsoftheLaboratoryofFoodSciencefocusonthediscoveryanddevelopmentofNutraceuticalsandnovelactivecompoundsthatcanbeusedfordrugsorfunctionalfoods.Inaddition,wechallengetoidentifymoleculartargetsoffoodfactorsthatareeffectiveagainstobesityandits-associateddiseases.Ourlaboratoryaimtodevelopcreativescientistthatcontributestosocietythroughresearchandeducation.Obesityisoneoftheriskfactorsfortype2diabetesandcardiovasculardiseases,andalsodementia.Thus,wefocusonobesitytopreventtheabove-mentioneddiseases.3T3-L1 cells are model of adipocytes.
