13Structural and Functional Restoration of Damaged Organs Using Stem CellsSummary of ActivityHuman embryonic stem (ES) cells and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells are attractive tools in regenerative medicine be-cause of their unlimited self-renewal and un-equivocal differentiation ability towards most somatic cell types. Our lab has a major focus in stem cell biology and its application, where we aim to provide novel therapies for refractory diseases. ・ Preclinical transplantation study of ES or iPS cell-derived cardiomyocytes for cardiac repair・ Generation of stem cell-derived biological pacemakers for cardiac bradyarrhythmias・ Establishment of novel treatments for muscular dystrophy by combining cell and gene therapiesDespite the remarkable progress in medical technology, there are still many patients who suffer from refractory diseases that require organ replacement. Regenerative medicine is an attractive alternative therapy for this. Our mission in this field is to study stem cell biology and clarify the feasibility of using stem cells for organ repair to provide effective, life-chang-ing treatments in the future. It improved students’ motivation.・ We clarified tutors’ perceptions in an outreach activity program.・ We developed a test management system by collaborating with a company.By achieving fundamental knowledge on medical education, you will be able to analyze your educational activities, and revise them. You will achieve quantitative and qualitative research methods.Research subjectOutlook for researchOutlook for students after graduationMedical Education and Community Medivine(Chief: Prof. Tsuyoshi Tada)The interprofessional education program by means of group work and roll play.Graduate students can conduct research at various professional development stages; early exposure, preclinical, clinical, postgraduate, and continuous development.
