Laboratory of Rural Development Mitsuru HAMANO Senior Assistant Professor, Ph.D. / Vice Director of International Center for Agricultural Education and Research (ICAER). Study areas: Rural development, value-added agriculture, educational development in agriculture In the developing countries, many farmers in rural areas face low productivity, low profitability, and low incomes in agriculture. Rural areas in Japan face the difficulties to sustain the livelihoods due to the population decrease and aging. This laboratory aims to promote sustainable rural development in both developing countries and Japan. The action oriented research and practical education are implemented in the national and international fields to solve the issues in the rural societies. Let’s work together!
