―5―The art of nursing ! (Florence Nightingale)Nursing as a profession is all too familiar to us from ancient times. Maybe, for that reason, nursing had not been seriously regarded as a science. Florence Nightingale was the rst person who proposed a systematic system for nursing as a science in the 19th century. My specialty is fundamental nursing and science of nursing education. I am studying every day to further improve the 3Hs: head (knowledge), hand (art), heart (attitude). These are the attributes that Florence Nightingale suggested are necessary and important to provide good care to patients.Florence Nightingale talked about the attitude as a nurse in Notes on Nursing. We can understand easily what Nightingale said: That attitudes never change; and also when someone gets sick, what they ask for never changes. Though the science of nursing can change with improving science and technology, we can contribute to the profession by improving the art of nursing as well.I am studying about better care for patients every day, so I can deliver good care which the patients deserve. “Nursing” is very useful in not only the care to the patients but also in daily life. Nursing has a bright future !
