―31―“Clinical and Research” physical therapists, who together with their patients, can be satised with their patients' recoveryMy clinical and research interests are in the improvement of motor function and gait. I am also interested in falls prevention and increasing the physical strength of the elderly living in the community, the intellectually disabled, and more recently, in patients undergoing dialysis. In addition, I am also investigating the relationship between increasing physical strength and risk of falls in inpatients and outpatients. I hope that the results from these studies maybe used in clinical situations to improve the patients’ daily lives, and my wish is to be more involved in clinical practice.Studies have shown that the physical strength level of the elderly, dialysis patients and the intellectually disabled is lower compared with a healthy person. This is also a major contributing factor in some of the complications resulting from aging or disease. My studies are directed at preventing these complications as well as to reduce the risk of falls in these patients.Good communication skills are important for physical therapists. As a physical therapist, it is also important to keep learning for knowledge and skill acquisition. I hope that students will continue to take an active part in their continued learning in each eld of physical therapy.Outlook for researchOutlook for students after graduationAfter working as physical therapist, was appointed as Research Associate in School of Allied Medical Sciences in 1997.
