―20―Psychiatric and MentalHealth NursingFor users’ safety and security in mental health settingsIn psychiatric and mental health nursing practice, it is said that interpersonal relationships are important and are central to a mature personality and good mental health. However, sometimes dysfunction can occur with the development of maladaptive behavior. I am studying interpersonal behaviors in order to understand what happens between patient and nurses. Currently, I am researching “Interpersonal Circumplex (IPC)”, which is a model for conceptualizing interpersonal behavior. All interpersonal behaviors are summarized into 8 characteristics (e.g. dominant, submissive, cold, warm, etc.) in the interpersonal circumplex. Graduated from Shinshu University, worked as a nurse at National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry Hospital in Tokyo. Appointed as Research Assistant (psychiatry & mental health nursing) at Shinshu University from 2016.Research Assistant Aimi Kinoshita There are many application methods in the IPC.It is not well known in Japan yet, but overseas, it is used for assess-ment of interpersonal behavior, collaboration between therapist and patient is enhanced, and maladaptive patterns are blocked.After graduation, there are several people every year who are working as nurses in the psychiatric department of hospitals and who become mental health nurses who are in charge of mental health.
