We aim to boost our research and technological innovation capability through the elevation of the research level of our younger professors and through collaboration with distinguished researchers from around the world. We are condent that cutting edge research and the integration of separate research elds in the ICCER will lead to the development of a Center of Excellence.5 Next-generation Research Center Clusters aiming to be the next Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge ReseachShinshu University established 5 unique Next-generation Research Center Clusters which aim to be the next Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research. They are the Research Center for Fungal and Microbial Dynamism (CFMD), Research Center for Agricultural and Food Industry (CAFI), Research Center for Social Systems, Research Center for Next Generation Medicine, and Research Center for Aerospace Systems (SURCAS).Global Aqua Innovation Center for Improving Living Standards and Water-sustainability (COI)Shinshu University has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) as a Center of Innovation (COI) site (one of eigh-teen in Japan). This national-level industry-academia-government collab-orative project, which combines leading technologies, will promote social systems innovation with the goal of making water use more sustainable.
