　信州大学大学院総合工学系研究科は、松本キャンパスの理学部、長野（工学）キャンパスの工学部、伊那キャンパスの農学部、上田キャンパスの繊維学部を母体とする大学院博士課程の研究科です。「生命機能・ファイバー工学」、「システム開発工学」、「物質創成科学」、「山岳地域環境科学」「生物・食料科学」の５専攻から構成されており、キャンパス間をまたいだ教員の連携により高度な教育研究を進めています。また、信州大学の特徴ある研究を強力に推進し、イノベーションを創出するため、先鋭領域融合研究群が設置されています。本研究群には、「カーボン科学研究所」、「環境・エネルギー材料科学研究所」、「国際ファイバー工学研究所」、「山岳科学研究所」、「バイオメディカル研究所」の５研究所が設けられており、所属教員は最先端の研究を行いながら総合工学系研究科の教育・研究にも関わっています。　本学の研究目標として、「自然との共存のもとに人類社会の持続的発展を目指した独創的研究を推進する」ことが掲げられています。信州というフィールドの中で、人間と自然との融合・調和をはかる環境システムを追究し、基礎科学の探究から高度なものづくり技術の創成まで、各専攻の研究分野およびそれらの融合領域の研究を進めています｡本研究科では、基礎から応用まで総合的な科学研究を行い、新たな産業の創出を担う高度な専門職業人を育成することを目指しています。Based on the Faculty of Science on the Matsumoto Campus, the Faculty of Engineering on the Nagano- Engineering Campus, the Faculty of Agriculture on the Ina Campus, and the Faculty of Textile Science and Technology on the Ueda Campus, the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Technology, Shinshu University, offers a doctoral program with five departments: Bioscience and Textile Technology, Mathematics and System Development, Materials Science and Engineering, Mountain and Environmental Science, and Bioscience and Food Production Science. Faculty members are engaged in advanced research and education in cooperation with other faculty members. Established to promote the university’s distinctive program of research while fostering innovation, the Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research (ICCER) consists of the Institute of Carbon Science and Technology, the Center for Energy and Environmental Science, the Institute for Fiber Engineering, the Institute of Mountain Science, and the Institute for Biomedical Sciences. ICCER staff members assist with the educational offerings and research of the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Technology while conducting state-of-the-art research at those five facilities. Shinshu University is dedicated to pursuing creative research in the service of its overriding objective of facilitating the sustainable development of human society and its coexistence with the natural environment. We at the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Technology work to realize environmental systems that foster harmony between human society and the natural world by pursuing research in each of the five departments as well as associated interdisciplinary fields. This endeavor extends from basic science to more focused areas such as advanced manufacturing technology. Ultimately, our graduate school is committed to conducting comprehensive research that runs from pure to applied science while training the highly specialized professionals to whom it will fall to create the new industries of the future.
