International ExchangeVision towards GlobalizationThe Establishment of Global Education Center (GEC) (April 2015) The university advocates intellectual/personal exchanges between Japan and other countries for the purpose of education and research development on a global scale.In a rapidly globalizing and ever-shrinking world, Shinshu University aims to construct and further strengthen its internationally competitive centers for education and research based on the concept of Shinshu "Forest of Knowledge" through the inheritance of knowledge and creation of new forms of knowledge.In order to achieve this, in addition to developing global professionals with the capabilities needed to function in the international arena, Shinshu University also initiates distinctive world class research centering on outstanding research achievements that have been met with global acclaim.Furthermore, as well as taking a proactive stance in accepting international students and providing them with increased opportunities to find employment in Japanese society, helping to train international professionals and foster intercultural understanding, the university also seeks to bring together foreign nationals and Japanese citizens living in the local area in an organic manner, promoting Shinshu's development from the perspective of multicultural cooperation under the keywords of diversity and collaboration.Shinshu University aims to construct globally recognized high quality education systems as part of its goal to develop capable professionals who are able to play a wide range of roles in the international community.promote intercultural understandingShinshu University seeks to stimulate interaction between enthusiastic, outstanding international students and leading researchers, and to become a center for nurturing international professionals and creating connections, as well as for initiating education to promote intercultural understanding.Shinshu University aims to construct globally recognized high quality education systems as part of its goal to develop capable professionals who are able to play a wide range of roles in the international community.Shinshu university has been consistently involved in activities related to globalization and international exchanges by reorganizing the International Student Center established in April 1999 into Shinshu University International Center (SUIC) in April 2006. With the aim of responding to the recent rapid progress of globalization, the plan to increase the level of the university’s globalization was revised in February 2015 and Shinshu University International Center (SUIC) subsequently reorganized as the new Global Education Center (GEC) in April 2015 to nurture global talents. Global Education Center (GEC) is responsible for activities based on its three objectives, i.e., “Promote globalization”, “Increase the number of admissions for regular international students”, and “Increase participation in overseas study and research”.
