The Division aims to establish fundamental multi-function, multi-capacity manufacturing technologies for high-strength fibers, high-performance fibers, and nano- and other frontier fibers.Through partnerships in the medical and engineering industries, the Division of Biological and Medical Fibers aims to put cutting-edge regenerative biological and medical fiber technologies into practical use through the development of novel robot and control technologies. We play a role in the merging of different fields based on textile and fiber engineering and the promotion of interdisciplinary cooperation, domestic and international cooperation, and industrial liaison.Based in fiber engineering and utilizing technologies such as organic electronics, nanosized polymer dispersion, conductive fibers, organic and inorganic composite materials and optical fibers, the Division of Smart Textiles merges the Nanotechnology and Nanofiber fields to create novelly functioning smart textiles. To create fashions for a world market of 7 billion people, we investigate the essence of fashion apparel through technological innovation. Research is promoted from four perspectives: fashion textile and apparel design, fashion information engineering, kansei evaluation and fashion business.Introduction of DivisionsInstitute for Fiber Engineering, Shinshu University (IFES)Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research (ICCER) ③13
