Associate Professor Hiroshi Moriwaki and co-workers showed the historical trends of air pollution by combustion at metropolis by analyzing the sediment core sample of the moat in Osaka Castle. This study made It appear that the largest impact of pollutants formed by combustion on the atmosphereic environment in 350 years was caused by World War II.
