1998 Carbon-Sequestration System in Arid Land by Afforestation

In order to establish a carbon sequestration system by afforestation of arid land. We are planning to make a system model containing parameters such as water-quantity and -movement, salt behavior, soil structure, kind of tree and energy balance and to construct a simulator of carbon sequestration applicable for the global scale. In Western Australia having annual rain fall of 200mm, we will collect and measure data useful for the above model and simulator cooperating with Australian researchers and show and propose a zoning of forest, efficient water supply, improvement of soil structure, control of salt and water movement and improvement of meteorological conditions.
