Toray increases the carbon fiber production capacity of its Mexico plant by 3 times November, 2016

【Supercategory:6. Products Subcategory:6.4 New products of 2016

Toray will increase the carbon fiber production capacity by about 20% overseas near 2018. Toray will invest about ten and several billions yen in its Mexico plant where low-cost products are produced, to increase the production capacity by 3 times. It is because the demands of carbon fibers for windmills have been increasing, the windmills being used for generating electricity. Although Toray has been specializing in production of high-functional products, Toray will accelerate strengthening of the production capacity, since low-cost products are expected to be used for car parts which are highly necessary to be lightweight.
