Teijin develops fire-resistant air cargo containers by applying its high-performance “para-aramid fiber” in collaboration with the US manufacturer of cargo transport-related products Macro Industries Inc. (Alabama). Both companies aim to develop higher performance containers than conventional ones through the direct collaboration of the material manufacturer and the end-use producer. Air cargo containers made from aramid fiber are lighter than the aluminum ones, and also fire-retardant. They expect the market in the transportation of ignitable products such as lithium battery. Macro Industries Inc. had already commercialized the containers made of the composite of resin-impregnated Teijin’s aramid fiber.
