Teijin developed 2D zipper made of nanofiber. May, 2016

Teijin developed 2D zipper by applying nanofiber. One side of the 2D zipper is composed of piled fabric of polyester nanofiber “NANOFRONT”, and another side is made of raised polyester fabric. By using nanofiber for piled fabric, the frictional force increases and nano-piles entangle with raised tips of polyester fabric. A high adhesive force makes hard to peel off the fabric when pulled horizontally, but the zipper can be detached easily when pulled vertically. Teijin plans to develop various care goods by applying a 2D zipper to replace a hook or button.
