In order to expand the super fiber business, Toyobo invested a total sum of J\ 2,000,000,000 in the facilities for high-performance polyethylene fibers “IZANAS” and “TSUNOOGA”. In order to improve the strength and abrasion-resistance of “IZANA” for a next-generation super fiber, the process to cool fiber just after spinning was revised to reduce the variation of the physical properties and improve the abrasion-resistance. A new line of the “TSUNOOGA” production facility was introduced and its production capacity was increased double to 1,000 tons/year. The commercial operation is to begin from April, 2017. Since the business inquiry for those two fibers from abroad is increasing, Toyobo is determined to strengthen the oversea business on the occasion of the renewal of the facilities.
