PDF A Study on the Movement Analyses of Skiing -In Case of Snowplow Skiing-

【Supercategory:7. DESCENTE SPORTS SCIENCE Subcategory:7.1 Vol.1

The purpose of this study was to examine the force distribution under the ski boots, magnitude of torque and the stable range of the body when skier change in posture during snowplow skiing. Subjects were two highly skilled and two intermediate skilled skier. The skier's center of gravity (C. G) was determined from photograph, and the point of application of force was measured by strain gauges.
The point of force was almost directory above the center of shoes in normal posture. In the forward leaning posture, the point of force ranged from 200 to 280 mm in front of the boot center. It was a little wide range, but behind, in backward posture. The magnitude of torque about the X-axis from 5.7 to 9.4 kg m in forward, and a little wide in backward. For most forward and backward postures, the angle of C. G. ranged from 25 to 32. These range was caused mainly by changes in the angle of ankle joint.
