【Supercategory:7. DESCENTE SPORTS SCIENCE Subcategory:7.3 Vol.3

Over all comprehensive investigations for the prevention of professional boxers brain damages created by sparring practice were discussed. In evaluation of mild repeated brain injuries for boxers, E.E.G., C.T. and neurological examinations were taken before and after sparring. Subjects consisted of 15 professional boxers. 7 cases out of 15 associated with normal C.T. findings showed abnormal E.E.G. records. One case developed cerebral infarction who had headache after sparring in spite of normal E.E.G. record. It might be strongly suggested that sparring practice which was taken successive several days before tournament and protective devices should be reconsidered for the prevention of brain damages. Boxers who had abnormal E.E.G. might develop organic brain impairment in accumulation of mild repeated injuries generated by sparring.
