【Supercategory:7. DESCENTE SPORTS SCIENCE Subcategory:7.4 Vol.4

Physiological and biochemical examinations in parallel with questionnaire were conducted to study the effects and risks of sauna bath in the patients with essential hypertension who are taking sauna bath several times a week. The results were as follows:
 1) Systolic and diastolic blood pressure and body weight decreased gradually by taking sauna bath.
 2) Systolic blood pressure during sauna bath increased considerably, but Katz's index rose slightly because the increase of heart rate and the decrease of diastolic blood pressure were slight.
 3) No obvious changes in urine examinations and fatigue tests after sauna bath were observed.
These results suggest that the physical load on taking sauna bath is not so heavy for the patients with essential hypertension and the sauna bath should not be forbidden for them.
