PDF Effects of Physical Training on Prevention of Aging in Immunological Function

【Supercategory:7. DESCENTE SPORTS SCIENCE Subcategory:7.10 Vol.10

In order to investigate effects of physical training on the immunological function of the middle- and old-age persons, lymphocyte subsets such as OKT 3, OKT 4, OKT 8, OKB 2 and Leu 7 were examined in thirteen healthy males.
As the results of one-month physical training, there was significant decrease in the Leu 7 (natural killer cell).
On the other hand, the OKT 3 (activated T cells in peripheral blood), OKT 4 (inducer/helper T cells) and OKB 2 (activated B cells in peripheral blood) increased significantly after the physical training. There was also significant increase in the lymphocyte transformation test induced by phytohemagglutinin (PHA).
The PHA test for joggers after the physical training for long term showed a significant increase, compared to non-joggers.
These results suggested that physical training activates the immunological function in middle-and old-age persons.
