PDF Effects of YOGA Training for the Elderly People (Aged 70 Years and Above)

 YOGA and walking exercises have been carried subjecting to the elderly residents of nursing home and to the elderly people living in their home during several months May through October, 1990, who were asked to report of their achievements every month.
 Their achievements showed the followings :
 1) Female residents of nursing home showed various characteristic in their achievements, such as small activities of walking of below 1000 steps per day compared with the other female group, and nega-tive attitude to the physical activities, which were assumed to be a cause of decrease of their physical and walking abilities and of their ADL.
 2) The elderly people living at their home on the other hand showed that they were positive in activities. They were found regularly exercising required trainings every day for five months, and were aware of importance of self control for self improvement. Training became to be a custom in their daily activities.
3) As result, light exercises adopted by this research, indicated so excellent effects on the physical exercises of the elderly people. That the Quality of the exercises must be preferred to those people than the quantity.
