The Study of Textile Finishing for Flame Retardance and Functionality

【Supercategory:3. Textile Category:3.3 Functional processing Subcategory:3.3.1 Processing technology

We studied finishing of polyester fabrics used for curtain products to add flame retardance and functionality (such as antifouling). Polyester fabric was finished with composition of phosphazene emulsion as non-halogene flame retarder and hydrophilic polyester emulsion as antifouling agent. Most effective condition to add both flame retardance and antifouling was found that combination of 2wt% phosphazene emulsion and more than 0.2wt% polyester emulsion. Flame retardance was decreased with an increase in concentration of dyestuff in the fabrics, so it was found that the color of fabrics for maintaining flame retardance was pale (dyestuff concentration was below 0.5%owf) for maintaining color fastness, practical flame retardance and antifouling after treatment of washing and dry cleaning. Finishing process in this study was abailable to apply for interior textile products.
