TEIJIN has developed a composite material “Twaron UD22” for a bullet-proof vest. The composite material exhibits an excellent bullet-proof performance with fewer layers than conventional materials, and could be used as a stand-alone composite or by combining with other fabrics to improve a bullet-proof performance. The bullet-proof composite is made of light/high tenacity/high modulus/high heat-resistant para-aramid fiber “Twaron” by impregnating one-directionally aligned fibers, laminating two sheets in crossing the fiber alignments and sandwiching with thermoplastic films.
