TORAY has developed carbon fiber “T1100G” for the next generation, which possesses both high tenacity and high modulus. A new carbon fiber has about 10 % higher tenacity and modulus than a high-tenacity-grade carbon fiber “T800”, currently employed for airplanes, and is expected to reduce further the weight of structures. TORAY started supplying new carbon fiber for golf shafts, and the approval procedure is under way for airplanes as its main application. TORAY intends to develop as one of the main products in the field of airplanes in future.
