TORAY has developed high performace resin for carbon-fiber composites. February,2014
【Supercategory:6. Products Subcategory:6.1 New products of 2013】
TORAY has developed polyphenylenesulfide (PPS) resin, which improves the tenacity of carbon-fiber composites about 30 %. TORAY is now producing PPS in a pilot scale at the Ehime Plant, and is planning to start mass-production of 1,000 tons/year by 2016. By improving the adhesion property to carbon fiber surface, TORAY has succeeded in achieving a similar tenacity as a composite to aluminium, while the high performances of PPS such as high heat resistance and high flame resistance are retained.
