TORAY developed functional polyester filament with a specific cross-sectional shape, which could be bulky and light. Polyester filament has a C-shaped cross-section. TORAY started test-marketing this polyester filament, and expects to expand its market in the area of sports wears in 2014 autumn-winter season. This polyester filament has about 50 % hollow rate, and exhibits a good heat insulation chracteristic. This filament can be blended with other types of fiber materials and be applied to a wide variety of woven or knitted fabrics.
