SHINSHU UNIVERSITY initiated a project of developing a new application of special polystyrene resin possessing a high heat resistance and high chemical resistance in cooperation with IDEMITSU and others. A new fiber was developed from this resin for industrial filters and apparels. A metal plating technology onto the high-frequency wave board made of this resin was also developed in collaboration with Japan Surface Treatment Institute. The project aims to expand the application of special polystyrene resin which is increasing its application to automotive electric components etc. at 10 % per annum. The business expansion is expected in new application areas within a year.
