KB SEIREN started supplying the sample of high-modulus high-tenacity liquid crystal polyester fiber “ZXION” for carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP). A complete fracture of CFRP could be prevented by combining ZXION with carbon fiber. High impact strength of ZXION is expeted to be utilized for the application to the sports goods material and automotive structural material. ZXION is planned to be supplied as yarns or fabrics as well as sheet-like prepregs. ZXION has a high tenacity of 30 cN/dtex, and could be as fine as less than 220 dtexfor the sake of weight saving.
