MITSUBISHI RAYON starts full-scale production of carbon fiber material forBMW EV (electric vehicles). MITSUBISHI RAYON installs a large-scale production line (3,000 tons/year) in Otake Plant by August, and doubles its production capacity to 6,000 tons in early neaxt year. All carbon fiber materiales produced in this new line will be supplied to the carbon fiber plant built in Washington, US, by a joint investment of BMW and SGL. BMW intends to employ this carbon fiber material in the part of the structural material of “BMWi” launced in this year. MITSUBISHI RAYON has been supplying and testing carbon fiber material provisionally since 2011.
