UNITIKA developed new flexible resin with high heat-resistance June,2013

【Supercategory:6. Products Subcategory:6.1 New products of 2013

UNITIKA has developed new flexible material with high-heat-resistance in collaboration with AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology).
The material is made of high heat-resistant and chemical-resistant polyimide resin with micro pores distributed homogeneously. The material is expected to be applied to the electronic parts to improve insulation and the automobile parts to improve the heat insulation. UNITIKA plans to start its mass production within 5 years. High porous polyimide resin is produced by depressurizing polyimide resin blended with inorganic silica and carbon dioxide. The pore size is 20~30μm, and high heat-insulation is resulted from a high ratio of total pore volume (over 75%). The decomposition temperature is over 600℃, the same or higher than polyimide resin, and the new material is also expected to be applied for heat insulation of the parts around the car engine.
