Teijin Frontier develops new polyester fabric inspired by Japanese traditional blind（TEIJIN）August, 2024

Teijin Frontier has developed a high functional polyester fabric material “Souta.” It has a high breathability and a good UV-screening property, with a structure of a Japanese traditional blind Sudare. It features yarns that are woven to form a plurality of horizontal and vertical ventilation slits on the fabric surface, the slits creating three-dimensional spaces. Like Sudare has a design allowing wind to flow in, the Souta fabric has a design allowing air to flow through the yarns. The design also helps reduce UV penetration on the fabric outer surface.
