TORAY developed temperature-adjustable textile for car seat. July,2012

TORAY has developed the fabric for car seat, which is cool in summer and warm in winter. Since the frequent use of air conditioner will be reduced, the use of this fabric will result in the improvement of the running performance of the electric car (EV) and the hybrid car (HV). The temperature is adjusted by absorption and release of vapor by moisture-absorbent polymer fixed onto constituent fiber of the fabric. The temperature will drop 2 to 4°C in summer and increase about 2°C in winter, compared with the conventional fabric. The fabric suppresses damp feeling and improves sitting comfort when seated.
