TEIJIN developed world-first mass-producible aramid nanofiber. July,2012

【Supercategory:6. Products Subcategory:6.1 New products of 2013

TEIJIN has developed world-first mass-producible aramid nanofiber. TEIJIN succeeded in preparing high oxidation-resistant aramid nanofiber in addition to the high thermal and size stability at 300°C by combining its own polymer and processing technology. TEIJIN is marketing the nonwoven sheet of aramid nanofiber for the separator of lithium ion secondary battery (LiB), and aims to start a commercial production in 2014. The aramid nanofiber nonwoven sheet is composed of ultra-fine fiber of homogeneous diameter (a few 100 nm) based on high heat-resistant meta-aramid fiber “CONVEX” which is produced/marketed by TEIJIN. The sheet has high ion conductivity due to high air gap ratio, and is expected to be an effective for high-power and high-speed charge of LiB.
