Asahi Kasei builds strategic partnership with US biotechnology company. June, 2022

Asahi Kasei has built a strategic partnership with Genomatica headquartered in California, on bio-based hexamethylenediamine (HMD). HMD is a raw material for nylon 6,6 that is used in making automotive parts and airbags, for example. Asahi Kasei will have preferential access to bio-based HMD from early stages of their developments, and test its performance as a raw material for nylon 6,6. Once they confirm its performance, they will anticipate a licensing agreement deal with Genomatica, and aim to start in-house production in late 2020.
