Toray will grow their carbon fibre business worldwide to meet increasing demand for wind power. In Europe, the Americas and China, wind power is becoming popular coupled with rising environmental awareness. The company, who produces carbon fibres for wind-turbine blades in Mexico and Hungary, will invest about 14 billion yen (about 130 million dollars) to boost the annual capacity at the Mexico plant by 50%. By the upgrade, the annual capacity at the Mexico plant will increase from the current 13 thousand tons to 20 thousand tons by 2023, and the global annual capacity will be 35 thousand tons.
