Kuraray makes a full-scale entry into the market of the ropes with high-tenacity polyarylate fiber “Vectran” as the material for mooring ropes applied for deep-sea (water depth 2,000 meter class) oilfield drilling. ISO is to issue the technical specification for deep-sea mooring ropes made by “Vectran” in first half of this year, and big wire-rope manufacturers are planning to employ “Vectran” in full scale.
