Toyobo’s antivirus materials Viablock is confirmed its effectiveness in influenza virus. It also works for feline calicivirus that has a guard membrane made with structural protein substances, and that is used as a surrogate for norovirus when used in experiments. Antivirus properties of acrylate is used for producing Viablock. Lipidic membranes and proteins of virus that adhere onto the surface are destroyed, deactivated and blocked from adsorbing, the surface having anionic functional groups at high densities thereon. Viablock is supplied as fibres, fine particles and nonwovens. Fine particles are used as coating agents and processing agents.
